Rising Stars: Brady Wells

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brady Wells.

Hi Brady, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small city in Massachusetts and am now located in Nashville, TN pursuing my passion for music as an Indie singer-songwriter. I found music at a really interesting time in my life. I kind of just randomly picked up singing and guitar really out of the blue, but I always loved music since a young age.

Growing up, my mom played all kinds of genres of music around the house from Frank Sinatra to Dean Martin, to Kenney Chesney and Chris Stapleton we were really introduced to it all! Over the years, I’ve really found music and songwriting as “The therapy session that I don’t have to pay for” meaning, whenever I am in my feels, I usually just pick up the guitar, start writing and feel at peace.

I like creating music, not only that people can jam to, but have an emotional connection too as well and that’s what I strive to do every time I write.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, and I think I speak for most artists and songwriters when I say that. If you don’t put in the hard work and if you don’t have that drive, then you are doing it wrong. I am a firm believer that nothing is just going to be handed to you, you have to give 110%.

I think one thing that was difficult was finding out who I wanted to be as an artist and a songwriter, like how did I want people to view me and my music. I think the road is always hard to travel but at the end of the road is some pretty amazing stuff.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Most of my songs are written about past experiences, whether that may be something that I’ve gone through or something someone else has experienced too. A breakup, a challenging time, etc. People listen to music not because they are sad or happy, they listen to music because they want to feel something and thats my goal when it comes to songs I write and sing.

I want to create music that people can connect to and connect with on an emotional level. My first EP “Chapters” (which you can stream everywhere!) really entails my life and everything I’ve gone through. It’s the beginning, the end, and everything in between, it’s as real and as vulnerable as I have ever gotten in my music and it’s something I am proud of for sure.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
When it comes to music, I think you will get out what you put into it. Good luck will come to those who are patient with the process and have work that is unique. I live by this quote from Jim Rohn, which says, “If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.”

As a musician, you have put yourself out there and show people what sets you apart from other artists and I think with that comes some great luck and sometimes some bad luck, but if you love what you do, it’s worth it.
